"A BEAR NAMED WINNIE"

A terrific and true story about the black bear cub that was purchased (and thereby rescued from an untimely death) by a veterinary Canadian soldier near Winnipeg. The bear was the inspiration for the book by A.A. Milne called "Winnie the Pooh." The photography is great, the bear is great, the story is heartwarming. Run don't walk to get a copy of this! For the whole family.

"DREAMER"

Starring Kurt Russell, Dakota Fanning, and Kris Kristofferson, this is a story about a wonderful racehorse that a family loved. It is fast-moving, interesting, heart-tugging, and wonderful for the whole family to watch. Fiction. Theatrical Release, Copyright 2005 - Color. Made in U.S.A. Available in DVD at your favorite video stores.

"EDGE, THE"

This movie for grown-ups is an edge-of-your-seat thriller/suspense movie starring Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin. It takes you through the days and nights of a group of people who are lost in the wilderness, and who are being pursued by a very aggravated and huge grizzly bear. There are real heart-stopping moments here, and a very good story. It is well-written, photography is great, acting is terrific. Who is that bear? The very well-trained Bart the Bear (now deceased) who has starred in many Hollywood movies through the years. For people who like to watch bears, this is the movie for you, but it is not for children due to really scary parts. Filmed in Alberta, Canada; a U.S.A. film, in English and color. Copyright 1997. Available in DVD at your favorite video stores.

"LIFE OF BIRDS, THE"

"MARCH OF THE PENGUINS"

At 1 1/2 hours, this is a beautiful program to watch. Like all good stories, it incorporates comedy, drama, and tragedy into the story-telling. "March of the Penguins" shows us a year in the life of emperor penguins. The storyline is the main focus here, not the taxonomy and history of penguins. And it is an incredible story, oddly enough, about things that are not unlike human experiences, such as love, endurance against all odds, and family devotion. Since we humans tend to relate well to those things that remind us of, well, us, this story hits close to home. In this case, a picture is worth a thousand words, and these pictures of penguin predicaments say it all. Non-Fiction. Most Unusual Photography: The delicate and difficult task of passing the egg from one parent to the other. Most Emotional Photography: The long walk (70 miles) back to get food after months with none. Theatrical release, Copyright 2005 - Color, English, subtitled in French and Spanish. Available on DVD November 2005. For all ages. A documentary originating in France and re-produced and distributed in U.S.A. - Warner Brothers Pictures and National Geographic Feature Films presentation of a Bonne Pioche Production with the participation of Buena Vista International Film Production both in France and Canal + , a co-production with APC in association with the French Polar Institute, France. Filmed in Antarctica. This program is available in DVD at stores including Barnes and Noble Bookseller www.video.barnesandnoble.com

"OLD YELLER"

A wonderful old Disney movie, suitable for the entire family, this is a real classic with Tommy Kirk, Fess Parker, and Dorothy Mcquire. "SEABISCUIT"

The wonderful true story of the little horse that could - a small racehorse that breaks records and people's hearts. For all ages. Filmed in U.S.A. Visit www.seabiscuitmovie.com.

"SEASON OF THE BEAR, VOLUME I: AMERICAN BLACK BEAR"

At 1 hour, this program is the best we have seen about black bears. We searched for documentaries about black bears and found either too many other types of bears in them, or too many people. So we produced this one. It is one hour of black bears. Even when people are talking, we cut in black bears over them! There is a lot of useful information in this program, including the history of bears, what goes on with black bears and their environment during the four seasons of the year, how to stay safe around black bears when you are in bear territory, efforts in black bear conservation. Footage for this program was obtained in Colorado, New Mexico, Louisiana, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, and Tennessee.  Scenes of black bears were from Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, and New Mexico. Wildlife experts from National Park Service, New Mexico Department of Game and Fish, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, and University of Tennessee contributed by being guests on this program. Many other wildlife organizations contributed and are also mentioned. Winner of the Bronze Remi Award at the 36th WorldFest International Film Festival in the category of "Wildlife / Nature." Non-Fiction. Most Unusual Photography: Many shots of bears are up close and personal; a family of bears eating hickory nuts high up in a tree.  Most Suspenseful Photography: Two adult bears square off in a walnut grove with cubs nearby. Home Video Release, Copyright 2002 - Color, English. Available on VHS, or DVD with chapter menus. 60-minutes. For all ages. A documentary from U.S.A. Produced and distributed by Kate Marshall Graphics, Inc. Filmed in U.S.A. This video is available at the CoveBear "Nature Store" on this website and locations listed on this website www.covebear.com. This bear video is also available at www.smokiesstore.org (National Park Service), and at all official visitors centers in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

"SEASON OF THE BEAR, VOLUME II: BLACK BEAR CUBS"

At 1 hour, this program is the only one we have seen about the first year in the life of a black bear cub. The emphasis here is on the importance of good black bear habitat, and shows how mature trees play a big role in the lives of black bears. It is one hour full of young black bears. We meet people who are involved in the reintroduction of black bears, the conservation of black bears, the rescue and rehabilitation of black bears. Bear experts on this program are from University of Tennessee, Black Bear Conservation Committee, Chestatee Wildlife Preserve, and Appalachian Bear Center. All wild bear photography on the program was obtained in the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee and North Carolina. 2005 Winner of the Silver Remi Award at the 38th WorldFest International Film Festival in the category of "Ecology / Environment / Conservation." 2006 Winner of the Bronze Telly Award at the 27th Annual Telly Awards in the category of "Nature and Wildlife." Non-fiction. Most Unusual Photography: A mother bear feeding a 9-month-old cub mushed up acorns by mouth. Most Emotional Photography: A mother black bear caring for her 4-day-old babies in the winter den. What is going on in this rarely seen footage is surprising - the secret lives of bears! Home Video Release, Copyright 2005 - Color, English.

"TOUCHING WILD HORSES"

A story about a boy who loses his father in a car accident, and his mother in a coma. He goes to Sable Island to live with his aunt who studies a herd of wild horses lives. A touching and thoughtful movie, and it is very entertaining. To see photos and video and a description of this movie, go to www.touchingwildhorses.com. Fiction. Theatrical Release, Copyright 2002 - Color, English. Starring Jane Seymour and Mark Rendall. Available on VHS or DVD. 2 hours. Find it at your local video store, or at www.amazon.com.

"WOLF - RETURN OF A LEGEND"

A wonderful program about the Sawtooth Pack, Wolves of the Nez Perce (gray wolves). After seeing this program, Kate Marshall Graphics, Inc. officially sponsored two of these wolves, early on, in Idaho: Amani (gray) and Motomo (black). Motomo has taken over leadership of the pack in recent times, and sweet Amani is still there also. Amani changed when he lost his brother, Matsi, in 2004, and was inconsolable for a long time, spending mornings howling sorrowfully. Check out the Wolf Education and Research Center at www.wolfcenter.org for lots of information and how you too can become involved with these beautiful animals. (The original five wolves of the Sawtooth Pack were: AMANI, MOTOMO, MATSI (these 3 were brothers), KAMOTS and LAKOTA. You can read about them also at the website.) Television program, Copyright 1994 - Color, English. Available in VHS. For all ages. Produced by ABC World of Discovery in U.S.A. Filmed in U.S.A. The video is available at selected stores and at www.amazon.com.
